Sitemaps for your ecommerce website
Sitemaps are important tools that help search engines like Google and Bing find and index all of the pages on your website. A sitemap does not guarantee that a page on your website will be indexed and included in search results, but it does help increase your chances.
From sitemaps.org:
"In its simplest form, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site."
Where to find your sitemap
You can find your sitemap simply by adding "sitemap.xml" to your domain. For example, if your business uses the domain "https://kivalogicdemo.kivalogic.com", then your sitemap can be found at https://kivalogicdemo.kivalogic.com/sitemap.xml.
You can see the actual XML by viewing the source of the sitemap.xml page like this: view-source:https://kivalogicdemo.kivalogic.com/sitemap.xml Here is what it looks like underneath:
Sitemaps are automatically generated for you
When a new week in the Kiva Logic software has been completed, a new sitemap will automatically be generated for you and also submitted to Google and Bing. There's nothing you have to do and the sitemap is generated in the background by our robots.
The Kiva Logic robots will crawl every page of your website, including all of your shop, product, farmer/vendor, recipes, and content pages.
By updating your sitemap weekly, it ensures that when a search engine bot crawls your site, it's not looking for any old products or links that no longer exist.
Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster tools
One of the many things Kiva Logic does to help your business succeed is to add your website to both Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools. This helps the search engines find your business, and also allows us to monitor for any errors, warnings, or notices from Google and Bing.
If you are a new customer of Kiva Logic, we'll add you to the webmaster tools as soon as your site launches, and then we continue to monitor for the life of your account on Kiva Logic.
